Experience/Skills
- 3 - 5 years experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL 2005 (or newer) databases
- 2 - 3 years experience with MySQL
- Experience in wireless and/or mobile technology preferred
- Experience with systems integration work preferred
Job Responsibilities
- Install MS SQL Server in development, test and production environments
- Install and deploy databases in development, test and production environments
- Create backup plans; raise red flags if any vulnerability is discovered in projects
- Test disaster recovery scenarios
- Manage security – Work with the development and management teams to determine how much access the application will need to the database
- Performance tuning - Tune the file structures and organization, schedule index rebuilds, and make any hardware-type decisions or recommendations
- Data modeling – Create the physical data model and modify the model on an as-need basis
- Creating DTS packages –Create processes to load and scrub data
- Creating the installation scripts – Create base installation scripts to create tables, indexes, stored procedures and initial data loads
- Stored procedure writing – When called upon, write, tune and modify stored procedures. Assist developers with complex data queries
- Performance tuning – Handles performance tuning at the query and index level. Observe execution plans to determine where indexes can be built to improve performance
Education Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering
